Cicada-shaped synthesizer, inspired by the summer ambiance in Japan. The primary focus is on creating sounds that mimic the distinctive call of cicadas, the insects synonymous with Japanese summer. This workshop blends simple technology with artistic flair, offering a unique experience in crafting music inspired directly by nature.
This module was first developed for the Rokko Meets Art festival in Kobe, Japan. The "Persami" project, initiated by Waft Lab, serves as the main program encompassing various sub-workshops held at the event.
One of the modules within this project is Cicadra, a simple oscillator based on the NE555 IC circuit. Cicadra is designed with a straightforward approach to facilitate easy assembly, allowing workshop participants to easily grasp the fundamental principles of oscillation and sound experimentation.
With a design inspired by the cicada insect, this module not only functions as an experimental device for sound exploration but also serves as an interactive medium in the context of art and education.
If you're interested, you can assemble it yourself and experience firsthand the exploration of micro mecha cicada! Simply download the file below, print it, and follow the provided assembly instructions.
This module is designed to be accessible to everyone, whether you're a beginner or an experienced electronics geek. If you have any further questions about assembly, usage, or further exploration, feel free to contact me through the available channels.
